my mom "mary colleen green"
the past few days ive been thinking about my mom and wish today i had her to talk to.....and realized its been 12 years since ive had a face to face conversation with the one person who had such an influence on me and molded me into what i am today..i miss her cute face and the reassuring hug and i love you i got from her often
i think of all the times i would talk to her...which was every day...... and would just listen to her....she had the calmest voice... because i always knew what she said was for my best interest...even if i didn't like it....at times i wish she'd say more
well..... i found this photo of her yesterday and it came at the perfect time....... i needed her and some advice.. so i pondered some of the things she usto say...and felt comfort...gosh words don't describe the feeling i have for this mama of mine .....and how she influenced my life... i feel like a little girl that needs her mommy...well enough of that.
she taught me many things.....but some of my favorites are
1.. to love all people no matter what color of skin they have ...or if they believe the same as you ....and that green stuff....money just isn't that "DAMN" important.... her words..but i think it kinda helps..
- she was such a great example of this..she loved everyone NO matter what..and everyone loved her
- she shared all that she had with those that needed it and would give you anything she had
- and really my mom especially loved the under dog..we always had people staying over at our house.even though they didn't see the same as she did
2. she had a love for all animals!!
- and today that love is in my kids as well as some of the grand kids....
- she was always hauling some animal home or wounded bird...
- we always had a dog...
3. she taught me by example to never over step your bounds as a parent or grandparent...
- and i can honestly say have tyred as a mom and Nana to do this..
4. to follow your dreams ...and to never give up for life is a treasure hunt
- mom was always learning new things...cooking shows were her favorite!!! her love for the out doors and gardening was a must..she was always on a treasure hunt
5. to be strong and stand for truth NO mater what..
- its integrity that defines who you are
- ive always been truthfull with my kids and trust has always been a huge part of our life
6.to love your spouse through thick and thin and NEVER give up..
- i think she was speaking from her mistakes.. she always said...to have a weekly date so you don't get out of touch with your spouse...and for the past 32 years todd and i have done that..and have told my kids that as well.
- love love and treasure date night
7. to work hard and earn a honest pay ..
- she was such a hard worker from being a great mom to being a great provider
- she taught us kids to work hard.ever since i can remember she was always teaching us the importance of work....and she wasn't afraid to get in and show us how
8.to support your kids in what they want to do.
- i always felt mom's support and knew that i could tell her anything and she would love me NO matter what..and as a mother and nana i have tyred to do that with my kids and my bitty bums
- todd and i love to be there for our kids and bitty bums as much as possible..school..church..sports..because they are our life and they know it..
9. she taught us kids to love and believe in "god"
- we said our prayers at night and blessed the food even though we weren't raised mormon....she knew there was a god and couldn't deny that...
- and even though she didn't go to church she was the best example of what a Christ like woman could be...
10. to love life to the fullest because you never know when your last day is...
sooooo my sweet mama colleen.....was and is such an example to me... and i think of her all the time and wonder what she would do ..i just have to wonder and do the best i can
this momma loves her 5 children and their spouses sooo much
and my precious grandchildren who i call my "bitty bums" are the loves of my life
for a husband that loves me unconditionally and i love him more than life itself
my life truly is a treasure... a great journey that has been given to me
im so blessed every day!!!!
and when times get hard or i don't see eye to eye with one of my fav peeps..... i remember to never ever give up on the ones you love...learn and grow from the experience....
and i truly believe there is good in everyone
to you my mom this daughter loves you for you!! and for the example of Christ like love you gave each day
